Ornitological paradise

The province of Cáceres is an ornithological paradise and Trujillo is located between several Special Bird Protection Areas (SPAs), such as the plains of Trujillo and the plains of Cáceres. and the Sierra de San Pedro. Trujillo is only 40 minutes from Monfragüe National Park. At the same distance is Las Vegas Altas del Guadiana with its rice fields. You can also enjoy the birds on the banks of the Almonte and Magasca rivers. Finally, there are several reservoirs, including Arrocampo and Alcollarín.

Trujillo itself is an Urban SPA, due to its colony of Lesser Kestrel. From our garden you can appreciate them flying above our house and you can see (and certrainly hear) sparrows and starlings, hopefully a hoopoe and even a booted eagle. At night you can hear scops owls and eagle owls.
