Trujillo is a beautiful town with a rich history, where both the Romans and the Moors have left their mark. The huge castle was built by the Moors, and they walled the city with seven entrances.

The town's more recent prosperity came about because the medieval conqueror of the Incas and the founder of Lima - Francisco Pizarro - was born in Trujillo. In the Plaza Mayor (Main Square) you’ll find his majestic palace, built by his family, just opposite his equestrian statue.

The photos show you some of the huge number of monuments, which are often occupied by storks: and a town that is a quaint mix of the Middle Ages and the 1970s.
