Trujillo is situated between Madrid and Lisbon, with direct connections to Mérida, with its Roman theatre and amphitheatre, along with a museum of Roman treasures; to Cáceres, with its ancient city centre; and to Guadalupe with its famous monastery. All three cities are UNESCO World Heritage sites. All these fascinating places can be visited as a day trip; and all are within an hour's drive away; amongst beatiful, unspoilt scenic countryside.
Approximately half an hour from Trujillo you’ll find Monfragüe National Park, where many protected species are to be spotted. If you’re interested, we can organise excursions for bird watchers with a specialised guide (see special activities). The park also has numerous scenic walks for people of varying abilities.
Just farther north is the Valle del Jerte, where in late Spring you can see thousands of cherry trees blossoming.
As you can see, there is more than enough to keep you busy for a week or so. If you don’t have that much time, you can always return.
